    An Award-Winning Teacher Helped Us See Something Most Students Were Missing.

    Several years ago, while studying the preparation methods used by an award-winning Maltina Teacher of the Year, something became very clear to us.

    She did not treat examination preparation as something students should suddenly begin when WAEC or JAMB was around the corner.

    She exposed students to examination-standard questions as they learned each topic.

    If the class had just finished Electrolysis in Chemistry, the students did not simply close the notebook and move on. They saw how examination bodies had asked questions from Electrolysis.

    Why wait until SS3 before a student sees how WAEC or JAMB asks questions from a topic the child has already learned?

    That question stayed with us.

    Because when you think about it carefully, it exposes a major weakness in the way many Nigerian students prepare.

    Think About Your Own Child

    A Student Can “Finish” a Topic Without Ever Discovering Whether He Can Answer the Examination Questions From That Topic.

    Your child goes to school and learns Acids, Bases and Salts.

    The teacher explains it. Notes are copied. Assignments may be given. The class moves on.

    The child may even come home and tell you:

    We have finished Acids and Bases.

    But what does “finished” really mean?

    • Has the child seen how WAEC has tested the topic over the years?
    • Has the child seen how JAMB can change the wording while testing the same underlying concept?
    • Has the child answered enough questions to discover where he is confused?
    • Has the child made mistakes now — when there is still time to correct them?
    • Or has your child simply read the note and moved on?
    That difference may not look serious in SS1 or SS2. It becomes very serious when JAMB is only weeks away.
    The Problem With Most Past Questions

    Past Questions Are Useful. But the Way They Are Usually Arranged Can Hide What a Student Needs to See.

    Pick up a conventional past-question book. You will probably see the questions arranged by year.

    Traditional Past Questions

    • 2025 → Question 1, Question 2, Question 3…
    • 2024 → Question 1, Question 2, Question 3…
    • 2023 → Question 1, Question 2, Question 3…

    This is only good when the student has finished studying and wants to take a mock or CBT simulation.

    In a year-by-year past-question book, Electrolysis questions may be scattered across 2025, 2022, 2019, 2017, 2014 and 2010.
